The Lean Product Canvas
The AI-era prioritization 2×2
RETHINKING THE BACKLOG
Most prioritization frameworks, from RICE to value-versus-effort, were built to protect engineering time. Now that AI lets teams build working features in hours, effort no longer works as a filter, and roadmaps can easily turn into unprioritized to-do lists. This free resource from Jeff Gothelf replaces effort with two inputs that still matter: learning value (how much building something will teach you) and reversibility (how easily you can undo it if you’re wrong). Together they form a simple 2x2 matrix with a clear action for each quadrant: build it now, prototype first, make a small bet and move on, or stay out entirely. It also includes a one-hour exercise your team can run on its current roadmap or backlog to see where your real priorities sit.
You can read all about the framework here.
